Note on Iwo Jima: Day 7

We have been working diligently with our partners at The Iwo Jima Association of America (IJAA) to plan an unforgettable opportunity for you to visit this remote island. Each year, IJAA collaborates with the Japanese government and an independent
tour operator to and plan and execute a Reunion of Honor Ceremony on Iwo Jima (now known as Iwo-To). The National WWII Museum collaborates with these partners to ensure our guests admission onto Iwo Jima, just one day per year.

We are planning for a meaningful day on Iwo Jima as outlined on Page 19 of the brochure; however this portion of the tour is not under the control of nor operated by The National WWII Museum. In 2024, IJAA unexpectedly canceled the day on Iwo Jima. If the same or similar scenario occurs in 2025 or if a major schedule change should occur, (such as changing the flight location from Guam) the Educational Travel Program will provide alternative touring on Guam, and a credit for the Iwo Jima portion will be issued. However, should you decide to cancel for this reason, the cancellation penalties will be in effect.

Iwo Jima Disclaimer

We have been working diligently with our partners at The Iwo Jima Association of America (IJAA) to plan an unforgettable opportunity for you to visit this remote island. Each year, IJAA collaborates with the Japanese government and Military Historical Tours (MHT) - an independent tour operator - to plan and execute a Reunion of Honor Ceremony on Iwo-To (formerly Iwo Jima). The National WWII Museum collaborates with these partners to ensure our guests admission onto Iwo Jima, just one day per year.

We strive to be transparent about the possibilities of managing such a unique tour with one full day beyond our control. In 2024, IJAA alerted The National WWII Museum approximately 30 days in advance that the day on Iwo Jima was canceled.  We want to make you aware of this to help manage your expectations, as this portion of the tour is not under control nor operated by The National WWII Museum. If the same or similar scenario occurs in 2025 or if a major schedule change should occur, (such as changing the flight location from Guam) alternative programming will be provided on that day, and a credit for the Iwo Jima portion will be issued.  However, should you decide to cancel for this reason, the cancellation penalties will be in effect.
